The local chief executive, through a girl scout, emphasized the city’s projects and contributions centered on children’s rights.

“Dagupan has been recognized as the country’s Most Child-Friendly City on many occasions because we have been continuously implementing policies, programs, projects and activities that promote and protect children’s rights…” the mayor shared through her speech.

Mayor Fernandez then concluded her message with hopes that the city, through the actions of its people, will continue championing child-friendly programs into concrete actions.

Vice Mayor Bryan Kua also encouraged the audience and called for unity in his welcome remarks. “Open your hearts and minds. Listen carefully and unite as we make a safer place for all.” the vice mayor said.

The event then proceeded with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with National Agencies, NGOs and Major Sponsors. The signing of different parties highlights SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals and the importance of collaboration in the creation of a stronger and prosperous community.

Following the Children’s Summit last February 2024, the annual summit is once again anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and will exhibit several events, particularly Arts and Dance Competitions, Exhibits and Booth Viewing and Seminars revolving around children’s rights that will run until November 8, 2024.

A total of 30,000 participants are expected to attend the 3-Day summit with some 2,500 youth joining the Unity Walk that happened earlier today that started from the Dagupan City Transport Terminal up to the CSI Stadia.
