CITY TURNS OVER AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY TO LOCAL FARMERS

The City Government of Dagupan handed over Agricultural Machinery to local farmers in a turnover activity today, November 15, at the Dagupan City Plaza.

Mayor Belen Fernandez assured the farmers that the city is working hard to ensure that allocated funds, especially in the agricultural sector, would benefit them the most.

“Kaya kung ano yung pondo na meron, sisiguraduhin po natin na makakatulong po sainyo.” the mayor said.

One hundred fifty (150) local farmers of the city from barangay Mangin, Salisay, Tebeng, Malued and Bolosan received a total of fifteen (15) units of Kuliglig (Hand Tractor), ten (10) units of Water Pump, and Engine Set complete with accessories and fittings.

City Agriculture Office Head Mary Ann Salomon reported that this was the result of efficient communication between the local government unit and the city’s farmers with the goal of responding to their needs.

In a call for Dengue Prevention, the City Health Office – Sanitation Division and Epidemiology Unit led by Armie Claveria also turned over ten (10) units of Misting Machines to be received by ten (10) identified barangays.

The activity is a testament to the city’s efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

ALS’ PROGRAM’S 3-STOREY BUILDING, SOON TO RISE AT JUAN P. GUADIZ ELEM. SCHOOL

The construction of a Three (3) Storey Skills Training Building at Juan P. Guadiz Elementary School is set to rise soon, as confirmed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez today, November 14, at Brgy. Bonuan Gueset.

The project is a close collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU), Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan City Division headed by Dr. Rowena Banzon and Alternative Learning System (ALS) focal person Edwin Ferrer.

City Engineer Josephine Corpuz shared that the building will contain several rooms specific for skill-based operations, particularly for training, laboratory, cookery for meat and fish processing, welding area, conference room and other training facilities.

The local chief executive then ensured that the city would not stop supporting the city’s education sector, especially students under the ALS program.

“Hindi po tayo hihinto na we will continue to support education and mas lalo sa mga out-of-school (OYS) youth.” the mayor emphasized.

On behalf of JPGES Principal Reynaldo Cabusi, Teachers Club President Virginia Sales shared words of gratitude, guaranteeing that this building will significantly help and positively impact their student’s schooling.

The project was made possible through the approval of the city’s Supplemental Budget No.2, amounting to a total of 557,276,830.53 pesos.

3-STOREY 9-CLASSOOM SCHOOL BUILDING AT NORTH CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SOON TO RISE

A 3-storey 9-classroom school building will soon to rise at North Central Elementary School at Brgy. Bonuan Gueset, one of the many projects under the Supplement Budget No.2.

Barangay Captain Noel Bumanglag and Dr. Agape Nabua, Principal IV of NCES personally thanked Mayor Belen T. Fernandez for the project during her onsite inspection today, November 14, after the SP New Majority approved the budget.

Doctor Nabua shared that the number of enrollees are increasing, which the brand new school building is expected to accommodate the rising number of students.

“Kailangang kailangan ng aming paaralan ang bagong classroom kasi po tumataas ang enrollment, tsaka yung mga existing buildings po dito na 1-storey lang po ay kailangan na ng replacement po talaga,” Doctor Nabua said.

According to Barangay Captain Bumanglad, it will also serve as an evacuation center during times of calamity since the said barangay is part of the coastal area of the city.

Alongside with this almost 3 year-delayed project, during the first term of the local chief executive, she funded for the construction of NCES gymnasium, which was formally inaugurated last March 24, 2015, and a 3-storey building.

SATELLITE CITY HEALTH OFFICE BUILDING FOR REHABILITATION

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez authorized the rehabilitation of the Satellite City Health Office Building during her rounds in the area of One Bonuan, along with Barangay Captain Noel Bumanglad and City Engineer Josephine Corpuz today, November 14.

The establishment is expected to be the health center of residents from One Bonuan which is composed of barangays Gueset, Boquig and Binloc but its operation stopped since the time of the past administration according to Mayor Belen.

“Gagawin natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang ang ating mga mamamayan dito sa One Bonuan ay hindi na kailangan pumunta sa bayan. Lalagyan natin ng doctor, gamot at lahat po. Ibabalik po natin lahat,” the local chief executive said.

Barangay Captain Bumanglag thanked the mayor for putting up a budget, initially P500,000, for its rehabilitation, serving all the residents of One Bonuan.

CITY OPENS AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES

The City Government of Dagupan, led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, opened the city’s Affordable Housing Project for low-income families through an orientation earlier today, November 14, at the Dagupan City Plaza.

Aside from low-income families, the project will also prioritize the Local Government Unit (LGU) employees and Pag-IBIG Members.

During the coordination meeting, Pag-IBIG Membership Drive, and Fund Briefing with the city government employees, the local chief executive explained the importance of investing and owning your home.

“Pag mag-invest kayo ng bahay niyo, invest niyo ngayon, yung tatlong libong (3000) piso niyo after five (5) years to ten (10) years wala ng halaga yun, para na lang siyang five hundred (500) pesos. By that time, ang sweldo niyo pataas na nang pataas. Hindi niyo na mararamdaman ang inyong hulugan, kumita pa kayo dahil tumaas na yung presyo ng bahay. ” the mayor explained.

Fernandez continued her discussion, sharing her vision regarding this project.

“Kasi ang plano namin labing-isang (11) building ang itatayo. One thousand one hundred (1100) na bahay ang dapat nating maitayo” she added.

Mayor Belen thanked the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the PAG-IBIG Fund for their help in making this program possible for Dagupeños.

The housing program is aligned with President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program with the aim of improving the lives of every Filipino through the acquisition of a livable home for them and their families.

“Maligayang Kaarawan, House Speaker Eugenio Perez Sr., Founding Father of the Dagupan City Charter!”

Ito ang pagbati ng mga Dagupeño sa ika-128 Birth Anniversary ni dating House Speaker Eugenio Perez Sr., may akda ng Republic Act No. 170, o Charter of the City of Dagupan.

Kasama ang buong lalawigan ng Pangasinan, pinangunahan ni Mayor Belen Fernandez ang pagdiriwang sa lungsod ng Dagupan sa pamamagitan ng isang makabuluhang programa at pag-aalay ng bulaklak sa bantayog ng dating House Speaker ngayong ika-13 ng Nobyembre, sa Brgy. Herrero-Perez.

Sa mensahe ng alkalde, binigyang diin nito ang pagkilala sa hindi matatawarang papel na ginampanan ng dating House Speaker Perez lalo na para sa siyudas ng Dagupan.

“Sa nakalipas na 77 years, lagi tayong nagbabalik tanaw upang kilalanin, parangalan at panatilihing buhay siya sa ating alala dahil kanyang binigyang anyo at hugis ang ating mga pangarap at pagkilala bilang isang maunlad na bayan,” mensahe ng alkalde.

Nais ni Mayor Belen na sikaping turuan ang mga kabataan na huwag limutin si House Speaker Perez dahil sa pagbukas nito ng pinto sa tuloy-tuloy na pagunlad dala ng pagiging opisyal na pagkakatatag ng Dagupan bilang lungsod.

LGU-DAGUPAN BREAKS GROUND ON NEW CULTURAL CENTER AND MUSEUM

The Local Government Unit of Dagupan, led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, officially unveiled the Edades and Bernal Cultural Center and Museum through a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony today, November 15, at Judge Jose de Venecia Sr. Highway, Brgy. Pantal.

Dagupan City extended its gratitude to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines (NCCA), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Senator Pia Cayetano’s Pinay In Action and Pangasinan’s 4th District Representative and Chairperson of the special committee on creative industries Congressman Christopher “Toff” De Venecia who functioned as key people and institutions in bringing the site to life.

De Venecia authored Republic Act No. 11726, an act establishing the Edades and Bernal Cultural Center and Museum in Dagupan City with the general purpose and objective of presenting and promoting culture and the arts, as well as creative industries in the community that the House of Representatives passed on January 20, 2021, and later approved on April 29, 2022.

The creation of the new cultural site is attributed to the legacy of Dagupan’s two (2) national artists, Victorio Edades, National Artist for Visual Design and named the “Father of Modern Philippine Painting”, and Salvador Bernal, National Artist for Theater and Design and hailed as the “Father of Theater Design” in the Philippines.

Mayor Fernandez later welcomed guests in the program held at the CSI Stadia, sharing her excitement about the long-overdue project.

“Thank God, that this day is the day. For once, I even thought this day would never come, but this is real, and it’s happening right before our very eyes. So, I am very grateful and honored that this came to pass during my administration.” the local chief executive said.

Angeline Bernal-Samson, sister of National Artist Salvador Bernal, expressed her gratitude for the historical site that would soon rise in the city.

“I believe that this cultural center will inspire the future younger generations and enrich the cultural landscape of our nation.” Samson shared.

Among present in the groundbreaking ceremony and program were Senator Pia Cayetano through her Senior Staff of Communications Zheanne Aeson Dantis, Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III, through his representative Gerry Rosario, Former Dagupan City Councilor Chito Samson and son Former Barangay Chairman Saysi Bernal-Samson, Representatives of the Edades Family, NCCA Deputy Executive Director Marichu Tellano, DPWH Regional Director Ronnel Tan through his representative Engr. Criselda Nicer, Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, City Councilors, LGU employees and art and history advocates.

The Edades and Bernal Cultural Center will serve as the city’s cultural hub that will drive tourism in the field of art and history.

MBTF LEADS CHILDREN’S SUMMIT 2024 CHAMPIONING CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

In celebration of the 32nd Children’s Month, Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez leads the opening of the Children’s Summit 2024 promoting children’s rights with the theme “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines” today November 6, at the Jimmy L. Fernandez Center (CSI Stadia).

The local chief executive, through a girl scout, emphasized the city’s projects and contributions centered on children’s rights.

“Dagupan has been recognized as the country’s Most Child-Friendly City on many occasions because we have been continuously implementing policies, programs, projects and activities that promote and protect children’s rights…” the mayor shared through her speech.

Mayor Fernandez then concluded her message with hopes that the city, through the actions of its people, will continue championing child-friendly programs into concrete actions.

Vice Mayor Bryan Kua also encouraged the audience and called for unity in his welcome remarks. “Open your hearts and minds. Listen carefully and unite as we make a safer place for all.” the vice mayor said.

DepEd Regional Director for Region 1 Dr. Tolentino Aquino and Assistant City Prosecutor Atty. Ann Karen L. Aquino served as the resource speakers for the opening program, where they highlighted several key points surrounding children’s safety.

The event then proceeded with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with National Agencies, NGOs and Major Sponsors. The signing of different parties highlights SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals and the importance of collaboration in the creation of a stronger and prosperous community.

Following the Children’s Summit last February 2024, the annual summit is once again anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and will exhibit several events, particularly Arts and Dance Competitions, Exhibits and Booth Viewing and Seminars revolving around children’s rights that will run until November 8, 2024.

A total of 30,000 participants are expected to attend the 3-Day summit with some 2,500 youth joining the Unity Walk that happened earlier today that started from the Dagupan City Transport Terminal up to the CSI Stadia.

LGU-DAGUPAN HAILED AS REGIONAL CHAMPION IN THE 2024 NAT’L LITERACY AWARDS

The City of Dagupan led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez received the award for being the Regional Winner under the Independent Component City Category through its “Unaen Su Edukasyon” program from the 2024 National Literacy Awards (NLA), Department of Education and Literacy Coordinating Council (LCC) today October 28 at the City Mayor’s Office.

As the region’s champion, the city has sealed its spot as one of the national finalists for the Gawad Liyab Search for Outstanding Local Government Unit.

Among notable projects under the city’s education program include the Scholarship Program, School Infrastructure Projects, Manlingkor ya Kalangweran (MYK) Youth Leadership Training Program, Libreng Paligo, Jr. Health Advocate, Pamilyang Rehistrado Kinabukasan ay Sigurado (Lehitimo Ako, Batang Dagupeño), Handa ka ba? Information Education Campaign on Disaster Preparedness and many more.

This recognition was made possible by DepEd Region 1 under the leadership of Regional Director Tolentino G. Aquino through Education Program Supervisor Antonio V. Celeste and Johnson Sunga, Chief Education Program Supervisor Arlene Niro, DepEd Dagupan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rowena Banzon and Mr. Edwin Ferer, Public Schools District Supervisor/Division ALS Focal Person. MBTF, PINARANGALAN BILANG ‘MOST INSPIRING WOMAN OF THE EARTH 2024’

Pinarangalan bilang Most Inspiring Woman of the Earth 2024 si Mayor Belen T. Fernandez ng World Against Corruption (WAC) People Council and WAC Book of World Records International New Delhi, India – isang pagkilala hindi lamang sa buong Pilipinas, kundi pati rin sa mga bansa sa Asia.

Pagbabahagi ni Dr. Edwin Ferrer, Public Schools District Supervisor/Division ALS Focal Person na kasama sa pagtanggap ng award noong October 26 sa Federation Center, Muelle de Binondo St, Binondo Manila, ito ay para sa pagsisibling inspirasyon at motivation ng alkalde sa pagpapabuti ng lungsod at ng buong mundo.

“Hindi natin ine-expect itong ginagawa nating trabaho, yung sinseridad natin sa trabaho, pagiging compassionate, may passion to serve, may puso, empathy, ay napapansin pala nila. ‘Yung lahat ng sakripisyo natin dito sa siyudad, alam nating mahirap ang dinaanan natin…pero hindi natin alam na ang siyudad ng Dagupan ay nakaka-inspire pala sa iba at sa lahat,” mensahe ng alkalde.

“This is an inspiration of what we have done for the people of Dagupan. It is not the Mayor alone, but it is all of us.”

GSP GOT TALENT: DAGUPAN GIRL SCOUTS CELEBRATE GIRL SCOUT WEEK

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the celebration of the Girls Scouts’ Week 2024 with the theme “Women of Today for the Girls of Tomorrow”, today, October 17, at the CSI Stadia.

Girl Scouts Dagupan Council president and local chief executive inspired the “talented troops”, adding that “Girl Scouts Got Talent aims to showcase the different modes of talent of our Girl Scouts in performing arts which may include dance, music (singing or playing musical instruments), drama, spoken word among others that promote girl empowerment”.

She explained that this special event would help the young girls to express their talent while building confidence and character.

“We see that these opportunities will build a lot of great things, which means that our young talents are going to be exposed to all possibilities. At yun naman po ang layunin ng programang ito, which is to support them by inspiring them to believe themselves, so that they might realize their full potentials.” the mayor added.

The mayor also encouraged the scouts to always strive and do their best while helping one another.

The winners of the different competitions will also receive goodie bags containing milk, juice, noodles, snacks, and yogurt drinks.

The event is a testament to the city’s commitment to youth empowerment and community service.

DAGUPAN RECEIVES NEW AMBULANCE

The Local Government of Dagupan City led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez received a new ambulance from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. thru the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), yesterday, September 11, at the Malacañang of the North in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

The mayor personally thanked the president and PCSO General Melquiades Robles as the new ambulance will help boost the city’s health care services for the poor.

The said activity was part of the Marcos Family’s celebration of the 107th birth anniversary of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

The city is also set to celebrate PBBM’s upcoming birthday tomorrow, September 13, 2024, with the theme “Unliserbisyo sa Bagong Pilipinas”.
