CITY SPARK HOLIDAY CHEER THROUGH LIGHTING CEREMONY, OPENS 2024 FIESTA

It’s Christmas time in Dagupan!

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, together with government officials and employees, officially lit up the city’s Christmas tree, light decorations and the barangay Belens during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6 2024, Friday at the Dagupan City Plaza.

Anchored on the theme of “Star Ka sa Puso Ko,” the Christmas trees and light decorations placed in the City Plaza, De Venecia Rd., as well as in Quintos and Magsaysay bridges and the Belens per barangay, were simultaneously illuminated during the lighting ceremony symbolizing love and hope in the festive season.

Mayor Fernandez expressed her gratitude to everyone who made the event possible and emphasized the essence of the city’s Christmas lights and decorations as a unifying symbol in the community.

“Ang mga ilaw at dekorasyon ay simbolo ng inyong malasakit sa ating lungsod at ang inyong pagkakaisa para sa ating bayan…nawa’y ang mga ilaw na ito ang magpatuloy sa atin na lalo pang higitan ng galing at pagkakaisa at maging magbahagi ng liwanag sa pamamagitan ng mga simpleng kilos ng kabutihan.” the local chief executive said.

In celebration of the opening of the city’s 2024 Fiesta and 50th Anniversary Feast of St John the Evangelist slated on December 27, Liga ng mga Barangay President, Fiesta Hermano Mayor and City Councilor Marcelino Fernandez reminded guests and attendees about the importance of everyone being present in the ceremony.

“Ang gabing ito ay paalala ng tibay ng ating pananampalataya, init ng ating samahan at ganda ng tradisyong nagbubuklod sa atin bilang komunidad,” the city councilor shared.

Among those present at the lighting ceremony are Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, City Councilors, Department Heads, Barangay Officials, LGU Employees, Balikbayan Guests, DALAGA-Binebeking Dagupan 2024 Candidates and guests from all over the city and province.

The city’s month-long fiesta will cover several events, including Art and Cultural competitions, Vaccination and Medical Missions, Feeding Programs and Year-End & Thanksgiving celebrations.

2ND SUPER HEALTH CENTER PROJECT NG DOH, SOON TO RISE!

Para sa mas pinalapit ng sebisyong pangkalusugan, sisimulan na ngayong araw ang pagpapatayo ng ikalawang Super Health Center (SHC) sa Dagupan na bigay ng Department of Health (DOH) dito sa Barangay Malued.

Ayon kay Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, Katulad ito ng una nang  ipinatayo sa Barangay Bolosan na napakikinabangan na ngayon mga taga eastern barangays sa abot 2,000 consultations and out-patient services buwan-buwan kabilang ang mga sumusunod na serbisyo:

  • medical consultation,
  • dental services,
  • laboratory services,
  • ECG
  • pharmacy (free medicines),
  • prenatal check-up,
  • immunization
  • family planning
  • Philhealth E-Konsulta

Dito sa Brgy. Malued, masisilbihan ng SFC ang mga karatig barangays ng Lasip Chico, Pogo Grande, Pogo Chico, Tapuac, at Lucao.

Ipinahayag ni Mayor Belen ang pasasalamat sa lahat, lalo na sa DOH Region 1 sa pangunguna ni Regional Director Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco, Asec. Dr. Maria Rosario Vergerie at DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa.

Sa suporta ito ng Sangguniang Panlungsod led by the New Majority – Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, Councilors Michael Fernandez, Jigs Seen, Dennis Canto, Lino Fernandez and Bradley Benavides.

LGU-DAGUPAN TURNS OVER SEC. ANGARA’S 3-STOREY MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING TO BRGY. BONUAN BOQUIG

The newly constructed multi-purpose building which was sponsored by DepEd Sec. Sonny Angara was officially unveiled and turned over by the City Government of Dagupan led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to the residents of Barangay Bonuan Boquig.

The newly constructed building is set to cater the residents of ONE BONUAN which is composed of Barangays Bonuan Gueset, Boquig and Binloc, designed to conduct events and activities, and can be used as evacuation center.

Part of the local chief executive’s agenda is to develop the city’s infrastructures which will directly benefit the Dagupeños, especially the poor.

“First of all, we’d like to thank Atty. Ope Reyna, chairman of the Dagupan City People’s Council for facilitating the required process for this project”, Mayor Belen said, adding, “more importantly, we give our special thanks to our beloved DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara for sponsoring this very timely project. He’s been a good friend, a brother for all Dagupeños. We are very grateful, I’m sure he’s happy that his project now benefits the citizens of Dagupan, especially here in One Bonuan”.

“Asahan niyo po na habang tayo ay nakaupo ay patuloy po natin isusulong ang mga magagandang proyekto para sa ating siyudad. Priority po natin palagi ang pag-aasikaso, pagtatrabaho ng mga proyekto na magbe-benefit po sa ating mamamayan,” she said.

For his part, Barangay Captain Joseph Maramba expressed his gratitude to the city government, adding that the multipurpose building is one of many projects received by their barangay.

Mayor Fernandez also shared that some of the road projects under Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to 557,276,830.53 pesos approved by the SP New Majority Councilors will commence soon in the said barangay.

Present during the ceremony were Boquig Council led by Barangay Capt. Joseph Maramba, SK Council led by SK Chairman Ava Jel De Guzman, Bonuan Gueset Barangay Capt.  Noel Bumanglag, City Engr. Josephine Corpuz and Ms. Danee Canto,  and DPWH representatives.

This is part of our literacy intiatives for persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to gain a chance at education starting of with 30 PDL scholars as pilot beneficiaries of the program.

University of Luzon likewise assured the learning delivery modality for the PDLs thru online training sessions which will also serve as a rehabilitation for them to return to being citizens and not to be outcast in the society by the time they get out of jail.

Today is God’s given gift for us to help those in need. Indeed, we are blessed to be a channel for blessings to others.

INAUGURATION & TURN-OVER OF NEW BOLOSAN COVERED COURT GYM AT JJDVSTVSS & BES

The City Government of Dagupan headed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the inauguration and turn-over of the newly constructed covered court gymnasium for Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Technical Vocational Secondary School (JJDVSTVSS) and Bolosan Elementary School (BES) in barangay Bolosan today, December 10.

“Unli projects dito sa Brgy. Bolosan. Ramdam po namin ang inyong pagmamahal…Salamat po sa pakikipag laban para sa amin.” Barangay Capt. Nancy P. Morris expressed, grateful for the newly constructed covered court to conduct their school activities, special occasions, and can be used as an emergency evacuation center.

“Lahat ng mga improvements, especially sa ating mga public schools ng ating siyudad, ay naging posible na ngayon dahil sa ating approved budget.” Mayor Belen stated expressing joy for the consecutive projects implemented to the city for the constituents, especially the indigent.

“Just yesterday, we had a groundbreaking for the Super Family Health Center in Brgy. Malued and a turnover of a 3- Storey Multi-purpose Building with roof deck in Brgy. Bonuan Boquig…We are moving forward,” she added.

Cataract patients now enjoy brighter eye sight ensued to the Free Eye Check-Up, Cataract and Pterygium Screening and Operation Program through the help of the LGU-Dagupan’s partner doctors and specialists from Tzu Chi Medical Foundation.

The program “Star ng Pasko, Kita ko! Nagbalik Kulay ang Buhay Ko” gathered cataract patients in unity and expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards Mayor Belen Fernandez today, December 6 at the City Hall.

The local chief executive shared how blessed she is to have partners who tirelessly support her unliserbisyo programs that greatly contribute to the city’s overall progress.

“Maswerte nga po ako na mayor kasi maraming tumutulong sa akin. Kahit anong hirap ang aking pinagdaanan bilang mayor ng Dagupan, nandyan po, nasa tabi lang po yung mga tumutulong sa ating mga programa,” she said.

The mayor also ensured that the city government will sustain its efforts to improve the lives of the Dagupeños.

“Ang hangarin ko po bilang mayor ng Dagupan, hindi po kailangan lapitan ninyo kami, kami po ay lalapit sa inyo,” she added.

DAGUPEÑO ATHLETES JOIN BATANG PINOY 2024, BAGS MEDALS IN BP AND UAAP SWIMMING TOURNAMENT

Young Dagupeño athletes participate in the national sports competition Batang Pinoy 2024, held from November 23-28, 2024, at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Taekwondo athlete Jandy Viari captured the city’s first silver medal in the Taekwondo – Kyurogi Cadet Division Under 148CM while Gymnast and Dagupeña developmental athelete Bettina Zoe Ilaw bagged the city’s first bronze medal in the Gymnastics – WAG HP3 category.

City athletes James Elliazar Quinto and Seneka Quimson placed first in the Boxing and Table Tennis elimination rounds, respectively.

The rest of the city’s sports team, headed by Sports Development Officer IV Finnela T. Sim, will compete in the upcoming swimming competitions.

Taking place at the same time as the Batang Pinoy 2024, Dagupeño swimmer Gab Jizmundo clinched the gold medal in the 4×50 Freestyle Relay and the silver medal in the 4×50 Medley Relay in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 Swimming Tournament.

Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the send-off ceremony and the distribution of the qualified young athletes’ allowance from the city government and sports gear from TYR Philippines, Sports Resources Inc., and CSI Group of Companies last November 16, 2024, at the City Mayor’s Office.

DAGUPEÑO CENTENARIAN RECEIVES 100,000 PESOS

Dagupeño centenarian Petrolina F. Suarez, was awarded with a centenarian gift amounting to P100,000 and a Plaque of Recognition from the national government led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos through the Department of Social Welfare and Development on November 20, 2024.

Bai Loleng turned 100 years old last October 25 of this year, and aside from the cash gift, the city government of Dagupan led by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez handed a P20,000 cash grant through Acting City Mayor Bryan Kua, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs and City Social Welfare and Development for reaching 100th year.

Mayor Belen thanked President PBBM in a post for the recognition given to the centenarian residing from barangay Caranglaan.

“Maraming salamat po sa ating nasyonal na gobyerno, sa ating mahal na Presidente PBBM sa pagkakaloob ng pagkilala at pagmamahal sa ating centenarian mula Barangay Caranglaan,” the local chief executive stated.

This was through the Republic Act No. 11982 or the “Centenarian Act of 2016”.

CITY TURNS OVER AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY TO LOCAL FARMERS

The City Government of Dagupan handed over Agricultural Machinery to local farmers in a turnover activity today, November 15, at the Dagupan City Plaza.

Mayor Belen Fernandez assured the farmers that the city is working hard to ensure that allocated funds, especially in the agricultural sector, would benefit them the most.

“Kaya kung ano yung pondo na meron, sisiguraduhin po natin na makakatulong po sainyo.” the mayor said.

One hundred fifty (150) local farmers of the city from barangay Mangin, Salisay, Tebeng, Malued and Bolosan received a total of fifteen (15) units of Kuliglig (Hand Tractor), ten (10) units of Water Pump, and Engine Set complete with accessories and fittings.

City Agriculture Office Head Mary Ann Salomon reported that this was the result of efficient communication between the local government unit and the city’s farmers with the goal of responding to their needs.

In a call for Dengue Prevention, the City Health Office – Sanitation Division and Epidemiology Unit led by Armie Claveria also turned over ten (10) units of Misting Machines to be received by ten (10) identified barangays.

The activity is a testament to the city’s efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

ALS’ PROGRAM’S 3-STOREY BUILDING, SOON TO RISE AT JUAN P. GUADIZ ELEM. SCHOOL

The construction of a Three (3) Storey Skills Training Building at Juan P. Guadiz Elementary School is set to rise soon, as confirmed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez today, November 14, at Brgy. Bonuan Gueset.

The project is a close collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU), Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan City Division headed by Dr. Rowena Banzon and Alternative Learning System (ALS) focal person Edwin Ferrer.

City Engineer Josephine Corpuz shared that the building will contain several rooms specific for skill-based operations, particularly for training, laboratory, cookery for meat and fish processing, welding area, conference room and other training facilities.

The local chief executive then ensured that the city would not stop supporting the city’s education sector, especially students under the ALS program.

“Hindi po tayo hihinto na we will continue to support education and mas lalo sa mga out-of-school (OYS) youth.” the mayor emphasized.

On behalf of JPGES Principal Reynaldo Cabusi, Teachers Club President Virginia Sales shared words of gratitude, guaranteeing that this building will significantly help and positively impact their student’s schooling.

3-STOREY 9-CLASSOOM SCHOOL BUILDING AT NORTH CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SOON TO RISE

A 3-storey 9-classroom school building will soon to rise at North Central Elementary School at Brgy. Bonuan Gueset, one of the many projects under the Supplement Budget No.2.

Barangay Captain Noel Bumanglag and Dr. Agape Nabua, Principal IV of NCES personally thanked Mayor Belen T. Fernandez for the project during her onsite inspection today, November 14, after the SP New Majority approved the budget.

Doctor Nabua shared that the number of enrollees are increasing, which the brand new school building is expected to accommodate the rising number of students.

“Kailangang kailangan ng aming paaralan ang bagong classroom kasi po tumataas ang enrollment, tsaka yung mga existing buildings po dito na 1-storey lang po ay kailangan na ng replacement po talaga,” Doctor Nabua said.

According to Barangay Captain Bumanglad, it will also serve as an evacuation center during times of calamity since the said barangay is part of the coastal area of the city.

Alongside with this almost 3 year-delayed project, during the first term of the local chief executive, she funded for the construction of NCES gymnasium, which was formally inaugurated last March 24, 2015, and a 3-storey building.

SATELLITE CITY HEALTH OFFICE BUILDING FOR REHABILITATION

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez authorized the rehabilitation of the Satellite City Health Office Building during her rounds in the area of One Bonuan, along with Barangay Captain Noel Bumanglad and City Engineer Josephine Corpuz today, November 14.

The establishment is expected to be the health center of residents from One Bonuan which is composed of barangays Gueset, Boquig and Binloc but its operation stopped since the time of the past administration according to Mayor Belen.

“Gagawin natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang ang ating mga mamamayan dito sa One Bonuan ay hindi na kailangan pumunta sa bayan. Lalagyan natin ng doctor, gamot at lahat po. Ibabalik po natin lahat,” the local chief executive said.

Barangay Captain Bumanglag thanked the mayor for putting up a budget, initially P500,000, for its rehabilitation, serving all the residents of One Bonuan.
